Reusable Lists (Templates)

Mindwtr supports reusable checklists for tasks you repeat without strict schedules (packing, groceries, travel prep).

Two Patterns

Duplicate (Templates)

Use when each run is a fresh copy.

Example: Packing List

  1. Keep a master task in Someday/Maybe
  2. Duplicate it when you plan a trip
  3. Edit the copy without affecting the master

What duplication resets:

  • checklist items start unchecked
  • schedule and review dates are cleared
  • recurrence is cleared
  • the copy becomes a fresh task with new checklist and attachment IDs

Reset Checklist

Use when you want the same list again.

Example: Groceries

  1. Check items while shopping
  2. Tap Reset Checklist
  3. Reuse next time

What reset does:

  • unchecks every checklist item
  • updates the task in place instead of creating a second copy
  • reopens the task if it had already been marked done

Where to Find

  • Mobile: Task editor → Duplicate task or Reset checklist
  • Desktop: Task actions menu

Which One To Choose

  • Use Duplicate task for trip prep, onboarding checklists, or anything where each run should have its own notes and timing.
  • Use Reset checklist for shopping, recurring maintenance, or other lists where the same task stays useful over time.
  • If the list also has dates, recurrence, or project-specific notes, duplication is usually the safer pattern.

Tips

  • Keep the master version in Someday/Maybe or a low-noise project so it does not clutter daily lists.
  • Give template-style tasks obvious names like Packing List (Template) if you duplicate them often.
  • If a checklist starts needing due dates or recurring rules on each item, split it into separate tasks instead of overloading one reusable list.
